Identify whether sheet scrap is carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless, copper, or mixed material and describe coatings, dimensions, quantity, and loading.
Inspect before combining the load
- base metal such as carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless, or copper
- paint, insulation, sealant, fasteners, framing, and mixed attachments
- sheet gauge, dimensions, bundle condition, and approximate weight
Useful separation groups
Where safe and practical, keep the following groups distinguishable for review:
- clean aluminum sheet and siding
- carbon and galvanized steel sheet
- stainless, copper, and mixed composite panels
Quantity, condition, and documentation
Estimate weight, dimensions, drum or gaylord count, pallet count, or production rate. Include clear photographs and note contamination, coatings, fluids, sealed components, grade records, and lawful ownership documentation that may be relevant.
Pickup and loading
Band or palletize loose sheets where practical, control sharp edges and wind exposure, and explain how bundles can be loaded safely. State the pickup city, access hours, surface and clearance conditions, loading responsibility, and available forklift, crane, dock, or other equipment.
